A Guttenberg man sustained non-life-threatening injuries after his vehicle was partially submerged in Miners Creek last week.

According to a press release, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office received a report at approximately 7:09 p.m. on April 3 that a vehicle was partially submerged in Miners Creek, along U.S. Highway 52, south of Guttenberg.

Upon arrival, deputies determined a black 2019 Chevy Silverado operated by Douglas Pierce, 58, of Guttenberg, was traveling northbound on Highway 52 when Pierce lost control. Pierce entered the west ditch and continued into Miners Creek, where his vehicle became partially submerged.

The incident remains under investigation by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.

Assisting agencies included the Guttenberg Fire Department, Guttenberg Ambulance Service, Guttenberg Police Department, Iowa State Patrol and Breitbach’s Towing and Recovery.
