Loyal “Bud” Leitgen, 94, of Garnavillo, formerly of Minneapolis, Minn., died on Sept. 3, 2026.

A memorial service is planned for May 2027 in Iowa, with interment to follow at Garnavillo Cemetery.

Born during a tornado in 1932, Bud was a golfer, a traveler, and an international man of business, known as the “String King.” He was our elder statesman and mentor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Kann) Leitgen.

He is survived by his sons, Steve (Christine) Leitgen of Bloomington, Minn., and Tom (Zu) Leitgen of Singapore; grandchildren, Claire, Alyssa, Matt, and Adam Leitgen; his brother, Robert Leitgen; his sister, LuRae (Fred) Howard; extended family, and friends.
