Lois Gregerson, 93, of Oelwein, passed away Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, at her home.
Lois Eileen (Weyant) Gregerson was born at home in Edgewood on Sept. 14, 1932, to parents George and Lulu (Nading) Weyant. She graduated from Fayette High School with the class of 1951 as class valedictorian. On Jan. 16, 1952, she was united in marriage with Mervin Gregerson at Bethel United Presbyterian Church in West Union. Lois had been employed with Spurgeon’s, Hartig Drug Store, L&M Grain and Gregerson Electric throughout her working life.
Lois enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends and spending time with them. Other activities she enjoyed with family and friends were dancing at the Coliseum, going to bowling league and going to the casino. Over the years, she crocheted hundreds of doilies, names, afghans and tablecloths. Lois was proud of the two Best of Show and several first place ribbons she received on her crocheted items at the Fayette County Fair. She also enjoyed working outside in her garden and helping Mervin on the farm. They enjoyed going camping and trips to Arizona, Nevada and South Dakota.
Left to celebrate Lois’s life are her children, Lyle (Patricia) Gregerson of Elkader, Karen (Alan) Spragg of Oelwein, Janise Meggers of Osage, Wyo., and Greg (Leanne) Gregerson of Rapid City, S.D.; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren with one due in October; five great-great grandchildren with one due in November; her brother Whitey Weyant of Center Point; her brother-in-law Vernie Larson of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; and her special nephew Gene Weyant of Winthrop.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Mervin (2022); her parent-in-laws Melvin and Winifred Gregerson; her grandchildren, Missy Cook, Dakota Gregerson and Seth Gregerson; her siblings, Don (Shirley) Weyant, Luella (John) Pattison, Patricia (Louie Pfiester and Charles Hanson), Eula Larson, Marlin (Vickie) Weyant and Phyllis (Duane) Engler; and her in-laws, Merle and Agnes Gregerson and Mary Weyant.
Visitation and funeral services were held on Oct. 10, at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home of Oelwein, with Pastor Scott McCaw officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery at Volga.
