Duane Arthur Berger, 76, of Volga, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the Guttenberg Care Center, Guttenberg. Duane was born Dec. 11, 1949, to Howard and Eula (Seago) Berger.
He graduated from Central High School with the class of 1968.
Duane was united in marriage to Nancy (Meader) Berger on Feb. 13, 1971, at the Volga Presbyterian Church.
His first job was with Henderson Manufacturing in Manchester, where he worked for approximately six years. He was then hired by Clayton County, where he worked with the Clayton County road crew on the secondary roads.
Duane had many interests. He was a member of the Backbone Blue Grass Association, played with the Strawberry Pickers Band, was a member of Pheasants Forever and loved to hunt, fish, golf, shooting and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy, of Volga; sisters, Janece (Bruce) Greenzweig of Charles City, Barbara (Garry) Rasmussen of Independence, Kathy Haynes of Lamont and Kristi (Bob) Sass of Dubuque; sisters-in-law, Janice Chase of Volga and Schelvie (Willis) Chase of Volga; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Sandra) Berger and Kim Berger; sister and brother-in-law, Janice (Kenneth) Newman; brothers-in-law, Kurt Haynes, Steven Meader and Charles Chase; and nephews Matthew Berger and Mark Waterman.
A visitation and funeral service was held on June 6, at Volga Methodist Church in Volga. Chaplain Caleb Johnson officiated. Inurnment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in Volga.
