MFL MarMac senior Lily Johnson has been named first team all-conference for the Upper Iowa Conference’s big school division.
The outside hitter led the team, and ranked third in the conference, with 275 kills in 31 games. Her total trailed only the 372 put up by South Winn’s Bailey Kuennen and the 307 by Aleigha Cahoy of New Hampton.
Johnson took 803 kill attempts—runner-up to Kuennen’s 875—and was seventh in the UIC’s big division with a .199 kill efficiency.
Defensively, Johnson ranked second among Bulldog players with 257 digs (teammate Kensey Ball recorded 351) and was sixth in the category in the UIC. She netted 16 total blocks, which was also second most on the team.
Johnson was a key serving threat for MFL MarMac, completing 245 of 278 attempts for an 88.1% success rate. She smashed 44 aces, tying Ball for fourth in the conference’s big division.
The all-conference selection caps off a record-setting season and career for Johnson. The senior’s 275 kills is the most in one season for a Bulldog player, breaking the record 267 set by Cassey Sanger in 1999. Her 3.5 kills per set also broke Sanger’s previous 3.4 kills per set record.
This season, Johnson surpassed 500 career kills and 500 career digs, as well as 100 career aces. She previously set the school record for most aces in a season, with 71.
