MFLMM Boys Soccer

The MFL MarMac boys soccer team went 1-1 in its final regular season games last week.

The Bulldogs opened action May 11 with a 3-0 victory at Columbus Catholic that extended their winning streak to five games. Seniors Kyler Nuehring and Eli Hanson and junior Ashton Phillips all found the net, while senior Carter Lightfoot earned an assist. The team took five shots on goal.

MFL MarMac keeper Carsten Pester stopped seven Sailor scoring attempts.

After a May 12 game at Cascade was cancelled, the Bulldogs wrapped up the week at Marquette Catholic on May 15. Trailing just 2-1 at halftime, they couldn’t keep the Defenders from the goal in the second half—eventually losing 6-2.

No individual statistics were available at press time.

The Bulldogs finished the regular season 6-5-1. Opening round playoff action began May 18 at Bellevue—a team who beat MFL MarMac 3-1 earlier this season. The Bulldogs won, and will head to GCGR, Gladbrook-Reinbeck on May 27. More info from the Bellevue game will be in next week's edition.
