The Central boys golf team won two meets last week and placed third at another.
The first win came 164 to 177 at Charles City, where the Warriors had the top three individual golfers. Owen Burke was the medalist after shooting a 38, while Griffen Hammersland was runner-up with a 40. Owen Hammersland was close behind with a 42.
Other Central scores included a 44 from Isaac Loan, 46 by Weston Stannard and 52 by Caden Fette.
The Warriors followed that up with a resounding win in an Upper Iowa Conference triangular at Tri City Golf Course in Luana. Their score of 154 outpaced Postville’s 180 and the 181 from West Central.
Owen Hammersland was the medalist this time, after finishing with a 37. Griffen Hammersland again claimed runner-up honors with a 39. Loan, Burke and Stannard all posted 40s, and Blake Stevenson shot a 49.
Central wrapped up the week April 29, at the 18-hole Knight Invite hosted by Union Community. The team placed third with a score of 345, just three shots back of second place East Buchanan and four ahead of West Delaware. Union Community had a meet-best 336.
A 78 made Nash Schmitz from Union Community the top individual. Griffen Hammersland and Burke each shot 81s to lead the Warriors. Hammersland earned runner-up honors on a tie-breaker, while Burke placed fifth.
Owen Hammersland and Loan shot respective scores of 91 and 94, followed by Fette at 104 and Jake Hertrampf 112.
This week, the Warriors were at Big Rock Country Club on May 4 for the Upper Iowa Conference Meet.
