Bulldogs finish mid-pack at Upper Iowa Conference girls golf meet

MFL MarMac turned in a score of 396 to place fifth of 10 teams at the Upper Iowa Conference girls golf meet, held May 5 at Big Rock Country Club in Fayette.

Crestwood and New Hampton battled it out for the top spot, with the Cadets edging the Chickasaws 361 to 368 for first place. South Winneshiek followed in third at 385, and North Fayette Valley finished ahead of the Bulldogs with a score of 390.

New Hampton’s Kirsten Nuss was the top individual, her 75 coming in eight shots better than runner-up Ainsley Teeling from Crestwood.

Devon Meyer was the Bulldogs’ top golfer, placing seventh with an 88. Hannah Jacobson and Taylor Randall each shot 102s to finish a respective 17th and 18th. Hadyn Meyer was 20th with a 104, while Mariah Moser earned 39th on a score of 115. Lily Johnson rounded out MFL MarMac’s scores with a 122.

Similar to this meet, the Bulldogs finished fifth in the UIC regular season standings with a record of 10-8. They were 28-11 overall. Crestwood was an impressive 17-1 to place first, while NFV was the runner-up at 14-3 and New Hampton third with a 16-4 mark. South Winn finished ahead of MFL MarMac at 12-5.

MFL MarMac will begin postseason play this week, heading to Pleasant Valley Sports Club in Clermont for the Class 2A - Region 4A meet on Friday, May 15. Other teams at that site will be Aplington-Parkersburg, Columbus Catholic, Dike-New Hartford, North Fayette Valley, Postville, Sumner-Fredericksburg and Union Community.
