Last week was a busy—and successful—one for the MFL MarMac girls golf team, who played every day but Wednesday and finished either first or second in each competition.
The Bulldogs started by winning an Upper Iowa Conference triangular at Tri City Golf Course on April 20, their score of 195 far outpacing the 246 from Clayton Ridge. Postville did not have a team score.
MFL MarMac had the top five individual scores, led by medalist Devon Meyer’s 43, then a 50 by runner-up Hannah Jacobson. Taylor Randall and Kaylee Baker each finished the meet with 51s, then Hadyn Meyer turned in a 55.
On April 21, the Bulldogs were runners-up to host Sumner-Fredericksburg in a triangular that also included Union Community. The Cougars edged MFL MarMac 186 versus 193.
Devon Meyer was the runner-up individual, her 43 falling three shots back of medalist Kylee Krueger from Sumner-Fred. Jacobson turned in a 48 and Baker a 50, while Mariah Moser and Hadyn Meyer each shot 52s and Randall a 54.
A combined 405 placed MFL MarMac just behind East Buchanan’s 392 at the April 23 Clayton Ridge Girls’ 18-Hole Invite. Devon Meyer earned medalist honors, however, her score of 90 two shots ahead of Piper Reck from East Buc. Jacobson shot a 96 for fourth place.
Baker placed 13th with a score of 109, then Randall and Hadyn Meyer were a respective 14th and 15th after shooting 110s. Moser carded a 130 for 27th place.
The Bulldogs suffered another loss to Sumner-Fredericksburg on April 24, this time in a triangular at Wapsie Valley. The Cougars posted a score of 189 to best MFL MarMac’s 203. Wapsie Valley did not have a team score.
Krueger continued to reign as the top individual, after shooting a 41. Devon Meyer was next up with a 44, and sister Hadyn earned fourth with a score of 47. Jacobson and Randall each shot 56s, while Moser turned in a 72.
MFL MarMac has two meets this week: at New Hampton on April 30, then at Maquoketa Valley May 1.
