Meyer medals twice more for Bulldogs

The MFL MarMac girls golf team competed in meets at New Hampton and Maquoketa Valley last week.

The Bulldogs placed third at New Hampton on April 30, their score of 205 two shots ahead of fourth-place South Winneshiek. Crestwood won the meet with a 178 and New Hampton was the runner-up with a 189.

Bulldog Devon Meyer continued her stellar senior season, shooting a meet-best 38. Crestwood’s Ainsley Teeling was next closest with a 41.

After Meyer, Taylor Randall shot a 51 for MFL MarMac, landing her in 11th place. Hannah Jacobson was 15th with a 55, followed by Hadyn Meyer in 19th with a 61. Lily Johnson and Mariah Moser placed a respective 20th and 23rd after rounds of 62 and 74.

The Bulldogs returned to the top of the leaderboard on May 1, posting a team score of 190 to defeat Maquoketa Valley and Marquette Catholic at Hart Ridge Golf Course. The Wildcats shot a combined 198 and the Defenders a 245.

Devon Meyer won her second meet of the week, earning a score of 42. Teammate Jacobson was the runner-up with a 45.

Randall finished the meet with a 51, good for seventh place, then Moser shot a 52 for ninth. A 58 put Johnson in 13th place, while Hadyn Meyer shot a 62 for 15th.

This week, MFL MarMac will face off against conference opponents at the Upper Iowa Conference Meet at Big Rock Country Club on May 5.
