MFL MarMac picked up a pair of victories during last week’s girls soccer action, improving to 5-4-3 this season.
Avenging a loss from two weeks prior, the Bulldogs defeated Clayton Ridge 3-1 in Guttenberg on May 4. After taking a 1-0 opening half lead, MFL MarMac tacked on two more down the stretch to defeat the Eagles.
Goals came from Kacie Picha, Kambry Keehner and Addison Corlett, and Picha also recorded an assist. MFL MarMac took seven shots on goal against Eagle keeper Izzy Harbaugh-Scott.
Bulldog senior goalie Alexa McElwaine let just one ball slip by while earning seven saves.
MFL MarMac continued to rack up goals on May 7, in a resounding 8-0 win over Monticello in Monona. The Bulldogs took a whopping 21 shots on goal while building a 6-0 first half lead, then found the net twice more in the second half.
Keehner and Ashtyn Dundee each scored twice, while Evelyn Fritz, Grace Swatek and Alaina Colsch netted one goal apiece. Fritz also had a pair of assists.
The defense prevented the Panthers from taking any shots on goal against McElwaine.
A 3-1 loss to New Hampton on May 8 snapped the Bulldogs’ winning streak. The Chickasaws proved more relentless than the foes earlier in the week, taking nine shots on goal. McElwaine recorded six stops.
MFL MarMac struggled to get to the net, with only two shots on goal against New Hampton keeper Rylie Rochford. The team’s lone score came via Keehner.
The Bulldogs close out the regular season this week, traveling to Columbus Catholic May 11, Prairie du Chien May 12 and Marquette Catholic on May 15.
