MFL MarMac was the runner-up at the Class 2A boys sectional golf meet at Pleasant Valley Sports Club in Clermont on May 13, advancing the team to this week’s district meet.

The Bulldogs combined for a score of 323, finishing a shot back of winner North Fayette Valley and five ahead of third-place New Hampton, with the top three teams advancing on to districts.

MFL MarMac had a pair of top-10 finishers in sophomore Maddox Hanson and senior Wesley Corlett. Hanson placed fourth after shooting a 77, while Corlett was seventh thanks to a 79. New Hampton’s Charlie Kriener and NFV’s Blake Everitt were the medalist and runner-up with respective scores of 74 and 75.

Jarett Hanson contributed an 83 to the Bulldog team score, followed by Jaxon Lamborn with an 84 and Will Miller an 85. Auston Lind finished the meet with a 97.

Their runner-up finish advanced the Bulldogs to the district meet at Gates Park Golf Course in Waterloo on May 18. The top three teams from each district site qualify for state, as well as the top two overall individual players (plus ties) from each site’s non-qualifying teams. Results will be included in next week’s edition.
