For the second year, Marquette is inviting locals and visitors to celebrate the end of summer with the Labor Day End of Summer Blast.

The town will be hopping all weekend long, with the flea market under the bridge from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday through Monday, Sept. 5-7, as well as the Marquette Action Club food stand from 11 a.m. to 8 or 9 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday.

But End of Summer Blast activities will largely focus on Saturday, Sept. 5.

After ribbon cuttings at the Driftless Station (former Schoolhouse Mall) and Wandering Bear Antiques at 10 and 11 a.m., respectively, attend a parade in downtown Marquette beginning at 1 p.m. Lineup begins at the Marquette Depot Museum and Information Center on Edgar Street, and the route will travel down North Street before heading back onto Edgar Street.

During the afternoon, enjoy live music by Beau Timmerman at Eagles Landing Winery from 1 to 4 p.m., along with inflatables in downtown Marquette at 2 p.m. The Getaway City Band will play in the city park at 5 p.m. Wanderlust Beverage Truck will also be on site.

The day ends with a blast—literally—with fireworks at dusk (around 8:30 p.m.)

The city of Marquette is organizing the Labor Day End of Summer Blast with promotional support from the McGregor-Marquette Chamber of Commerce and a donation from the Alexander McGregor Endowment.
