Brian Philip Rodenberg, 61, of McGregor, passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, at his home surrounded by loved ones. Brian was born July 31, 1965, to Benhardt and Lucille (Kellogg) Rodenberg in McGregor. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in McGregor. Brian attended Mar-Mac School and graduated with the Class of 1984.

On Aug. 30, 1986, Brian was united in marriage with Cheryl Kelly at St. Mary Catholic Church in McGregor. Two children were born to this union, Allison and Blake. Brian worked at Bituma Gencor as a welder and spent most of his life as a welder/fabricator. Brian also logged, worked for Pattison Sand and spent many years at Caterpillar and Moyna's in Elkader.

Brian enjoyed throwing horseshoes, playing cards with Cheryl’s Grandma Kelly, watching the Steelers on Sundays, bow hunting and gravel cruising with his brother Ole. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving Brian are his wife of 40 years, Cheryl Rodenberg of McGregor; children, Allison (Kevin) Hoffman of Durango and Blake (Penny) Rodenberg of Luana; grandchildren, Roseali Larson, Ryder Larson, Ellie Rodenberg, Alayna Rodenberg, Oakley Rodenberg, Beauregard Hoffman, Clyde Hoffman and Elwood Hoffman; his siblings, Mark Rodenberg, Wendy Ferguson, Clifford (Janelle) Rodenberg and Sandy Rodenberg; and his beloved dog, Bella.

Preceding Brian in death were his father, Benhardt (Cheryl) Rodenberg; mother, Lucille Rodenberg; and his siblings, Greg “Ole” Rodenberg, Stacy Winters, baby Jeff Rodenberg and Penny Rodenberg.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home in McGregor.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in McGregor, with Rev. Brent Keller as the officiant.

Inurnment will follow at St. Pius Cherry Mound Cemetery, Harpers Ferry.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of McGregor is assisting the family with services.
