Gary Lee Miller, age 76, passed away on May 12, 2026, from cancer. He was the son of Gus and Marie Miller of Elkader. Born and raised in Northeast Iowa, he moved to Minneapolis where he met his wife Shirley Ann Appel. They moved to the woods near Pengilly, Minn., in 1972. In 1976, he started Miller Brothers Construction with his younger brother Mark. After 35 years of operating a successful building construction company, he retired in 2011. He loved sailing and working in his shop.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Marie Miller, and his sister-in-law, Dale Miller. He is survived by his wife Shirley and three brothers, Mark (M’lou Brubaker) and Charles, both from Goodland, Minn., and John (Leta) from Dubuque, and many nieces and nephews.
