Last week was a quieter one for the Central volleyball team, with just one match against a tough Waukon team. The Warriors battled hard but fell in three sets, 17-25, 16-25 and 14-25.

We struggled a little with our serving in the first set and then had some trouble with serve receive in the second and third sets against a strong Waukon serving team. As a team, we finished the night serving 82% compared to Waukon’s 98%. Tenley Bormann had a great night at the service line, going 10-for-10, while Ella Frieden went 10-for-12 with two aces.

Offensively, Ella led the Warriors with six kills, while Avery Fette, Tenley and Carlie Bergan each added four kills. Brylee Erickson led the team defensively with 11 digs, followed by Tenley with nine.

Even though it wasn’t the outcome we were looking for, the girls continue to work hard and improve each week. We will keep focusing on serving and serve receive, as those two areas will give us more opportunities to get into system and set up our offense. We are continuing to learn, grow and battle, and we look forward to a couple conference match-ups this week against Kee on Tuesday and Turkey Valley on Thursday.
