MFL MarMac went 2-1 in last week’s girls soccer action—their final games before the postseason begins.

The team continued to sizzle offensively on May 11, scoring one goal in the opening half and three more in the second to defeat Columbus Catholic 4-0.

The Bulldogs took nine shots on goal, with Ashtyn Dundee, Evelyn Fritz, Kambry Keehner and Nora Rasmussen connecting for one goal apiece. Fritz also had two assists and Kacie Picha one.

MFL MarMac keeper Alexa McElwaine stopped five goal attempts from the Sailors, and finished with a clean sheet.

The team continued rolling May 12, in a 3-0 win over Prairie du Chien/Seneca/Wauzeka-Steuben/Youth Initiative. Two goals came in the first half and one later on.

Dundee and Evelyn Fritz picked up their second goals of the week, while Brynlee Fritz got in on the scoring action with one goal. Keehner earned an assist. The Bulldogs had six shots on goal overall.

McElwaine remained perfect from the net, thwarting a trio of scoring attempts.

A 2-1 loss at Marquette Catholic halted MFL MarMac’s momentum on May 15. The Defenders took just a pair of shots on goal, but were successful both times—once in the first half and once in the second. Their keeper, Amelia Schroeder, recorded seven saves against the Bulldogs.

MFL MarMac finished the regular season 7-5-3, and will begin postseason play Tuesday, May 26, against Postville. The game will begin at 7 p.m. in Monona. The winner will play at Denver on May 28.
