In an Aug. 16 social media post, Agri Star Meat and Poultry said it will begin resuming some operations at its Postville processing plant, which sustained heavy damage in a July 28 fire.
“Since the fire at our plant, tremendous effort has gone into cleaning, repairing and preparing our facility for the next chapter. Thanks to the determination and dedication of many, we are optimistic that we will resume limited production this coming week (contingent upon the successful completion of required inspections),” the company said.
Agri Star expressed gratitude for its devoted team members, customers, community members, neighboring communities, vendors, contractors and others who have offered support.
“Your commitment, encouragement, patience and willingness to help have made this progress possible,” the statement read.
Agri Star said it has already begun the call back/text process.
“Although we still have a great deal of work ahead of us—and rebuilding will take time—bringing members of our team back through the doors and beginning production again represents an important and hopeful milestone,” the company said. “The road ahead will require continued patience, flexibility and hard work, but we are incredibly grateful and proud to be taking this step forward.”
The company said it will share more progress in the weeks ahead.
