Head to Luana on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 22 and 23, for the community’s annual Luana Daze celebration. Featuring both long-time and new activities, the event promises fun for the whole family.

On Saturday, start the day with a breakfast of pancakes, cinnamon rolls, eggs and sausage, served by the Luana Community Club from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Bloody Marys and mimosas will be available all morning at the Luana Tap.

Registration for the 10th annual car show sponsored by Sautter’s Auto begins at 10 a.m., and the show itself is from noon to 2 p.m. Prizes and trophies will be awarded at 3 p.m.

The parade will hit the streets of Luana at 11 a.m. Lineup begins at 10:30 a.m. in front of Sautter’s Auto. The parade will be held rain or shine, and all groups, businesses and individuals are welcome. Decorate your floats with pride in honor of America’s 250th birthday.

After the parade, head downtown for kids games from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and free bounce houses from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The bean bag tournament is set for noon, and kids water fights at the Luana Fire Station are planned for 1:30 p.m. A euchre tournament at the Luana Tap will begin at 5 p.m.

The evening will conclude with the 19th annual street dance, sponsored by Luana Tap. Harvey Headbanger will play from 8 p.m. to midnight. There is no cover charge.

Throughout the day, enjoy food courtesy of the Luana Fire Department. Brats, hot dogs, wings and ribeye sandwiches will be served for lunch, from 12 to 4 p.m., then a ribeye sandwich meal from 5 to 9 p.m. Brats and hot dogs will also be available at that time. Supper to-go meals will be available at the fire station.

Luana Daze fun continues on Sunday. Attend the St. John Lutheran Church service in the shelter by Luana Smart Shopper at 9 a.m., before hitting up the craft and vendor show—new this year—from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Main Street. The tractor pull sponsored by Bodensteiner Implement and Luana Savings Bank powers up at 11 a.m.

At 12:30 p.m., head to the Luana Tap dining room for bingo.

Enjoy brats, hot dogs, wings, ribeye sandwiches and popcorn from noon until gone.
