Short agenda for city council monthly meeting
Guttenberg Council Meeting Head

The Guttenberg city council moved quickly through a routine agenda at the monthly meeting on Aug. 10.

Fire Dept. building

The council approved bids for the construction of a storage building next to the fire station. Concrete work will be done by Dimmer Brothers Construction. Jeff Hoeger with House to Home Remodeling was awarded the construction contract and materials will come from Meuser Lumber.

City property sale

Continuing a discussion from last month's meeting, a group of residents were on hand for the council's consideration of a resolution relating to the proposed sale of a parcel of city property off Acre Street.

At last month's meeting residents who own land in that area spoke to the council with concerns about notification of the sale and plans for future development. Some of those same residents were on hand at Monday night's meeting and reiterated their concerns.

After discussion the council set a public hearing on the sale of the property for the next regular council meeting on Sept. 14. The agreement with the realtor will also be reviewed to see if terms were met.

Other business

The final pay request in the amount of $10,173 was approved for the storm water update project on South River Park Drive.

A public hearing was set for the regular council meeting on Sept. 14 to sell of a small parcel of property located adjacent to Dan Parker's business, as discussed at previous meetings.

An updated alley improvement agreement was okayed by the council that will allow four property owners to make installment payments for the alley project.

The council okayed the designation of handicap parking spaces at the Creativity Center across from the school.

Following a public hearing at which no comments were received, the council approved a resolution that provides for a development agreement authorizing tax increment incentives for Driftless Current LLC for property development in south Guttenberg.

Discussion was held on the Landing 615 riverfront lease that is up for its five-year renewal. City manager Jamie Blume said that the owners, Jamie and Jennifer Gamerdinger, had concerns about the amount of the increase. The Gamerdingers were not present at the council meeting, and the council took no action on the matter.

The council okayed having two public works staffers attend a state streets and roads conference next month.

Brandon Pecha was approved as a firefighter. —On hand for the meeting were Mayor Fred Schaub, council members Brian Rodenberg, Austin Greve, Jane Parker, Steve Bahls and Michelle Geuder, and City Manager Jamie Blume.
