The MFL MarMac football team built a 28-0 first half lead and never looked back in a 41-14 blowout at Lisbon on Sept. 25. The win improved the Bulldogs to 1-1 in district play and 2-3 overall.

Although the Lions amassed 192 passing yards and two touchdowns on nine of 17 attempts, the Bulldog defense limited them to just over 100 yards on the ground. Taco Thompson snagged a fumble while Blake Schutte picked off one pass.

Daxton Diemel was MFL MarMac’s top tackler, earning 5.5 overall and 1.5 for loss. Tristan Hoopes netted 4.5 tackles, Blake Roe 4, Rylan Schroeder 3.5 and Schutte 3.

The Bulldog offense was powered by the return of sophomore Tyce Wikner, who generated 140 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. Another 116 yards and a touchdown came from senior Kashton Decker on 12 touches. Schroeder added 52 yards to the team’s 385 total rushing yards, while Schutte chipped in 30 yards and a touchdown on five carries and Diemel had 24 yards and a touchdown on six attempts.

Sophomore quarterback Easton Lange had a strong passing night, connecting on six of 10 attempts for 149 yards and a touchdown to Decker. He threw no interceptions.

Decker was Lange’s top target with 111 yards overall on just two catches. Wikner caught three passes for 21 yards and junior Noah Troester hauled in a 17-yard reception.

MFL MarMac returns home this Friday, Oct. 2, for its homecoming game against winless Camanche. The game will begin at 7 p.m.
