Candidates announced for upcoming local city and school board elections

The filing period for the upcoming local elections closed on Sept. 18. 

Residents will be voting for new mayors, council members, school board members and public measures across the county on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

City Elections

Clayton’s election will include mayor and five council seats, all with two year terms.

Mayor: Kaitlyn Kuehl-Berns*

Council: Nichole Michels*, Rod Drexler*, Tim Brandel, David C. Hart, Danelle Kuehl, Kim Hildebrand, Toni J. Schultz*, Kimberly S. Kuehl* and Cathy Staake

Elkport’s election will include mayor and three council seats, all with two year terms. No candidates filed.

Garber’s election will include mayor and five council seats, all with two year terms. No candidates filed.

Garnavillo’s election will include three council seats for four-year terms.

Council: Rachel J. Wolter*, Lance Kuehl* and Holly Webb.

Guttenberg’s election will include mayor and three council seats, all with four-year terms. Voters will also select two hospital trustees to four year terms.

Mayor: Fred Schaub*

Council: Stephen Bahls*, Michelle Geuder*, Mandy Ludovissy* and Brian Lee Rodenberg.

Hospital Trustee: Susan A. Osterhaus and Ryan Royer.

North Buena Vista’s election will include mayor and five council seats, all with two year terms. No candidates filed.

Osterdock’s election will include mayor and five council seats, all with two year terms. No candidates filed.

Clayton Ridge Community School District’s  election will include three board of directors seats with four-year terms. Candidates include: Korey Wilker, Melissa Wilker, Jason Bittner, Ellen Johnson*, Michelle Mertens-Dodgen, Jessica Bittner* and Micheal W. Finnegan*.

Extended hours will be available for voter registration and absentee voting at the Clayton County Auditor’s Office as follows: 

•Monday, Oct. 20 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

•Friday, Oct. 31 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

•Tuesday, Nov. 4 from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Polls will be open on election day, Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. 

Absentee ballots will become available on Wednesday, Oct. 15. The last day voters can mail in absentee ballots is Monday, Oct. 20. In person absentee voting at the Auditor’s Office closes on Monday, Nov. 3 at 4 p.m.
